Teeth whitening | Gretna, LA

Wanting a white smile well into your adult years is expected, especially with the existence of social media and online photographs that will follow you forever. Having a bright smile makes a great first impression and projects the image of health and confidence.

We offer professional teeth whitening in our Gretna, LA dental office, and here is what you can expect.

Consultation and Check-Up

Whether you are a new patient or an existing patient who would like to whiten your teeth, Dr. Russell Schafer will make sure that you are healthy enough for teeth whitening and what type of product will work best for you.

It’s also a good idea to start your whitening treatment immediately following your dental cleaning when your teeth are free of tartar and surface stains.

Professional strength whitening gel comes in a variety of strengths, measured in percentages, to combat even the toughest stains. If you have sensitive teeth, we can also recommend pre-treatment desensitizers to make whitening more comfortable.

Impressions for Your Whitening Trays

Once we are ready to get you started on your path to a whiter smile, we will need to take impressions. We use the impressions to make stone casts of your teeth. This is the mold that we use to make your whitening trays by placing a thin piece of plastic over the molds and forming it to the models with a vacuum device and heat.

These plastic replicas of your teeth will become your whitening trays, which will fit your teeth correctly and keep the whitening gel where it belongs. This is one of the biggest advantages of professional teeth whitening.

Instructions and Results

Our team will show you how to use your trays and go over how long to wear them each day for the best results. We will also take a shade before you get started to measure your results.
