Treating Children | Nola Dentures and General Dentistry

One of the things Dr. Russell Schafer loves about dentistry is helping children develop healthy habits early in life so that they can enjoy healthy, comfortable smiles and better overall health.

If you are looking for a dentist to provide outstanding and gentle children’s dentistry for your child, we invite you to join our dental family at Nola Dentures and General Dentistry.

Early Dental Visits for a Great Start

We recommend that you bring your child in for a first dental visit by his or her first birthday. At this special appointment, we spend time discussing kid’s dentistry and home care with parents, answer any questions you may have about nutrition to support good oral development, and make sure that everything is on track with your little one’s first teeth.

Ongoing Care – Dental Cleanings and Prevention

Children grow up fast, and their needs change as they develop. We will provide a dental cleaning to help keep their teeth free from decay and promote healthy gums. If your child develops decay, we can discuss ways to prevent it at home and suggest treatment such as dental sealants or fluoride to protect their teeth.

Baby teeth are more important than most people think. Your child’s baby teeth create a guide for their permanent teeth. Protecting them is important! If your child develops decay, we will do everything possible to preserve his or her baby teeth. If we catch it early, a filling should do the trick!

Teen Dentistry

By the time your child is a teen, they will probably have all their adult teeth. This means that we will need to provide additional care to protect their permanent smiles. With regular dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, and effective home care, your child can enjoy a healthy, beautiful smile.
